I was wondering if anyone has seen this show and has any information on it? I know several episodes survive (some in colour) but I've never heard of any being reshown in recent years. There don't even seem to be any stills from it floating around online.
As a fan of historical shows it would be very interesting to see as would The Devil's Crown which though complete isn't available on DVD etc.
Which leads me to another question, are there other particularly noteworthy BBC series out there that are simply forgotten but would be of reasonable interest if shown on BBC Four for example?
We get a lot of music from the archives on BBC Four but little or no drama. It strikes me that old Doctor Who hasn't even been shown in years, granted it gets great DVD releases but the casual younger viewer would hardly know such a show exists.
Ditto for non- BBC shows like The Avengers, The Prisoner etc. which used to get shown on TV in the '90s but now seem to have vanished despite the proliferation of niche digital channels. At least these shows are well serviced by DVD releases.
Sorry for turning this thread into something of a ramble but I wonder about the shows we never see and what shows I don't even know exist. I also wonder why we never see certain BBC music clips etc.

I've also noticed there seems to be less old dramas show on TV, apart from on ITV 3 & 4.

If its 'The Borderers' I recall it was a BBC show that featured a bearded Iain Cutherbertson (best remembered as Charlie Endell in 'Budgie'!) as a Scottish Lord or Laird named Cessford & a younger more action orientated Michael Gambon (later in 'The Singing Detective') as a Scottish soldier or warlord (something like that),
They were the two leads who alternated as the main figures, and sometimes featured together, in a rural Scotland during the divided era of Queens Mary & Elizabeth
it was made with the attention to detail & quality period setting production that BBC were noted for (in everything from 'Six Wives of Henry' historical drama to the historical adventures of 'Doctor Who' !) in perfect location setting with decent guest stars
the gist of it was Cessford trying to keep order (with Mike Gambon's guy's help) dealing with 'issues' feuds, lawlessness in their community etc...with 'political' issues interfering at times
I used to enjoy this show on Sunday nights & naturally assumed BBC had in time honoured tradition 'lost' it all of course...!
I see 'The Avengers' are currently running at 8pm on True Entertainment cable channel - from b/w & colour 'Steed & Emma' (1965,67) they have now just moved onto the 1969 colour 'Steed & Tara King' series
