I've just found in a box in the garage my Philips 1702 cassette recording of the Royal Wedding of 1981. Nothing special in that, I know, but there MAY be something on the end of the tape. Can anyone here play this tape for me & find out? Feel free to e-mail me at gary@yesterdaysracers.com

Aren't you the same person who posted a very similar question already?

...(sigh)...the first tape is a 1500 cassette, this one is a 1702 recording.

You can play both in any machine, so the 1500 tape may have a 1700 recording on it and visa versa? For example a 1500 VCR45 will last 90 minutes in a 1700 machine.
Obviously if its in a 1700 you will not be able see the recording made on a 1500, just lots of black and white flashes as the drop out compensator tries to make sense of it all.
philips families 1700/1701/1702 will all play correctly in each other.
1500/1501/1502 will all play correctly in each other.
