For somebody who was a consistent name throughout the 50's and 60's it seems very odd just how little UK TV there seems to be of Petula Clark in action. No TOTP, RSG, TYLS and I can't think of any variety shows I know of after 1960 or 61 that she's guesting in. Most of what there is is from overseas.
Also, is it true that the very first program to be broadcast in Colour on BBC1 was a Petula concert from the Royal Albert Hall? One would had thought the BBC would had kept that for the sake of history but I've not seen or heard anything suggesting it's survived.
Any clues on Petula? What UK TV performances actually survive from the 60's?

The BBC have 2 songs on the Best of Both World 10/01/1965; The whole 'This is Petula Clark' from 30/06/66; 1 songs from the Wayne and Shuster show 25/09/1965 and 2 clips - as found by me and mentioned before, just excerpts from This is Petula Clark 28/11/67.
A start.

Cheers. A real pity the BBC haven't bothered to show any of that material. It does annoy me that there has been much revisionism when it comes to Petula in the 60's in retro shows or compilations... it's as if she never existed and only had the one hit record "Downtown."

Let's not forget John Henshall showed some missing Petula at the recent KAL event. There doesn't seem to be much 60's footage from the UK but there are two great early 70's performances around. 'The Fool On The Hill' from the Film & Television Awards, London Palladium 8/3/70 was recently released on the Frost On Sunday DVD. 'The Story Of My Life' from Top Of The Pops 21/1/71 survives via the ZDF archives in Germany.

The Rock & Rolls Years has a couple of clips from the early 1960s, I'm guessing sourced from abroad.
I know she was very popular in France & one song in the clips sounds like it's sung in French.

I asked John Henshall about the Petula footage and he's pretty busy at the moment but said I could post this on his behalf.
I was surprised to learn at Kaleidoscope that two Petula Clark numbers rescued from my 2-inch tapes had been wiped by the BBC. Fortunately I saved them in full broadcast quality – because not only was I one of the main cameramen but also they used my Telefex optical effects. The numbers were "It's a Wonderful World" (opening number) and "The World is a Circle" from "The Sound of Petula", recorded in BBC-TVC Studio TC1 sometime in the early 1970s. I have an LP signed to me from Pet Clark in 1973, which might be the year.

I can reveal that the 'Rediffusion' clip is not a TV programme at all. It is a clip from 'the Runaway Bus'. (further research has found the bus was meant to be going to Blackbushe Airport - near me!!!!)
However I can confirm that the clip from 10/03/1973 IS from the Sound of Petula, it IS missing, and covers the Groovy Kind of Love/You're So Vain part of the medley that was performed (Groovy Kind Of Love/You're So Vain/What Would I Be/ Until It's Time For Me To Go).
