Ancient monuments, showing flm stock of Stonehenge and Brtish castles, with a narrated history. The series were billed as 'Public information films' and run on Saturdays, morning before Grandstand about 1968 - 69. Later they appeared weekday lunchtimes I think between BBC news and weather. Probably 1972. Last seen on t.v. around 1978.
One I recall best was 'Pendennis castle', using the stock theme music of 'Year of the sex olympics'. The series was available from the Ministry of Information around early '90s, but I'm not sure if this is the complete catalogue or are some missing. So I hear, one on 'Corfe castle' a friend seemed to recall doesn't seem to exist.

I remember the Corfe Castle one as well. The COI library is incomplete and so that film is probably one of the missing (as does seem to be the one for Audley End, which was used in the compilation version as seen on BBC-2 trade tests). I don't know how many were actually made but at least 13 still survive. They went out in the pre-Grandstand slot on a Saturday lunchtime as "Noticeboard" in the '60s.
