Recently posted a query on the following - an 'All gas & gaiters' episode a friend & I recalled n 1979 where a Madonna statue is suddenly seen alarmingly with a smiling face. It was intended to be comedic but really disturbed my friend.
This is actually an episode of 'Oh Brother', from the 1970 series called 'Laughter of a fool'. It appears on the DD release on DVD (how I found out). I thought it had been wiped. 'Oh Brother' is the more predictable environment for the topic as by this series it was very surreal, whereas 'All gas' was mainly based on character play and wit, a gentle satire on the Church, remaining firmly in the realm of possibility in the real world generally. (Bar the 67 'ghost' episode I recall watching on my Mothers knee).

I can tell you that I watched that episode recently not knowing what was coming and jeez my heart leapt for a second - even when they cut back to it again it still looks incredibly creepy.
