Yes, they're from the same edition. The recording has a low colour signal but I see someone has been doing tests to retrieve it! Very nice to see.

That's fantastic...thanks for posting. I put the link on Strawb's Facebook Fan page too at - www.facebook.com/groups/125319430894924/I can tell you, Dave Lambert still has that jacket ! On one of the bands other, sadly wiped, TOTP appearances, two of the guitars were actually plugged into each other as a protest against having to mime (only vocal was Live)

Three Strawbs TOTP performances in existence is a much better record than many other acts of that time... always intrigued me that 3 complete shows that got preserved featured them especially given how little there is left from that era. The Hangman and The Papist must be one of the most intense performances I've ever seen on TOTP!

There are five surviving Strawbs TOTP performances, not three, so it's even better. Unfortunately nothing by Hudson-Ford.

That's a pretty idiotic thing to say. There are all sorts of reasons why material was wiped, and all sorts of reasons why it was deemed unnecessary to keep everything, none of which had anything to do with intelligence. To insinuate that the archivist at the time wiped TOTP because they were thick is, frankly, offensive.

Hangman and the Papist - 1971 Lay Down - 1972 Part Of The Union - 1973 Back In The Old Routine - 1977 also two Hudson Ford appearances - Burn Baby Burn - 197? Are You Dancing - 1977 also The Monks (featuring Hudson Ford) - Nice Legs Shame About The Face - 1978

There's also "Shine On Silver Sun", TOTP 27/9/1973. I wasn't aware of "Burn Baby Burn", so thanks for mentioning.

Strawbs The Hangman and The Papist must be one of the most intense performances I've ever seen on TOTP! Yes. It always amuses me though when the number finishes with Dave Cousins in full angst mode and the next act coming crashing in so cheerfully straight afterwards: Middle Of The Road's Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep! This illustrates better than anything the disparity of styles which could feature on TOTP.

It features Dave Lambert playing a very rare tiny Vox Winchester guitar...only 12 ever made. The body is a Vox wahwah pedal !!
