Latest DWM - 2 Entertain confirmed that neither will be released in 2012 but they are on the schedule. Implication is that both will be released separately, not self-contained, but within another release. it would make the most sense financially to release them separately. shame it will be later rather than sooner...oh well. Any response to my earlier question? Is it a clip of a Rill from "Airlock" that features in the documentary on the Gunfighters DVD? I was not aware of any other Galaxy 4 clips other than the ones from Episode1. If it is indeed from "Airlock," was nobody intrigued at the time of the release as to the source of the clip?

This came up in another thread recently, either here or on GallifreyBase - I believe the answer was that the moving shot is a snippet from the recon 2|E commissioned for inclusion with The Time Meddler, but ultimately didn't release.

I've always said; Airlock with The Tenth Planet and The Underwater Menace 2 with The Ice Warriors. Makes the most sense. To me anyway.

I've always said; Airlock with The Tenth Planet and The Underwater Menace 2 with The Ice Warriors. Makes the most sense. To me anyway. However, Dan Hall also indicates in that issue that, contrary to previous plans, 2013 won't mark a "full stop" for the DVD release programme. For my money that suggests they might be looking to continue with a mix of revisitations and animated releases at a slower pace, and if that releases the scheduling pressure that seems likely (sales allowing) to be the main bar to getting the six potentially viable animation projects done, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Menace, at least, get animated as a matter of priority, perhaps with Ice Warriors slipping down the schedule in its favour (they might also want to hold off on Warriors until the new German lead has been fully investigated). What's more, Dan talks in terms of the episodes going on one "unannounced" release and one "potential" release. Since we know that Ice Warriors and Tenth Planet are definitely planned for release in some way, the "potential" release, at least, would seem to be something else...

I contacted Paul Vanezis and the R/T about the Rill Clip, fairly soon after 'The Gunfighters' DVD was released. I was told that the Rill scene was a CGI reconstruction(apparently done by the guy who did the Mara snake for the DVD release of Kinda). Paul Vanezis told me that the Rill scene was quite close to the original film, I did wonder how he knew at the time

I was told that the Rill scene was a CGI reconstruction(apparently done by the guy who did the Mara snake for the DVD release of Kinda). Paul Vanezis told me that the Rill scene was quite close to the original film, I did wonder how he knew at the time I was watching the End of the Line feature last night when they showed that clip and wondered myself if it was quickly sneaked in from the recently found Airlock episode. Checking the release of the Gunfighters I think it was released in the same month (or there around) Airlock was found so I imagine would have been hard to get the clip in. the CGI was very impressive, I didn't even notice it, I thought it might have been a real clip of it. Some animated stories would be really cool, much more than just revisiting older DVD releases, the only one that jumps to mind would be the Ark in Space for putting additional features on. I think if they did the animated stories then Power and Evil of the Daleks might be candidates because they have the Daleks as selling points to a wider audience.

This came up in another thread recently, either here or on GallifreyBase - I believe the answer was that the moving shot is a snippet from the recon 2|E commissioned for inclusion with The Time Meddler, but ultimately didn't release. Ian Levine used a still image from this recon featuring a group of Rills as his avatar on Gbase. I Guess 2/E are now reviewing this recon as a possible release in its own right? If a lot of the legwork has already been done on this then would it take a great deal more effort to 'upgrade' the project and slip Airlock and the other existing clips into place? I'm afraid I know little about this recon, how professional it is, how it is animated or why it was eventually pulled. (An slightly off-topic comment, but I read in the Sixties book that a group of Rills in a glass tank were featured at the Boys and Girls exhibition in 1968, along with a Varga plant amongst others. So I guess there may be photos of those out there somewhere?)

Thanks for the info guys. I had read about the recon before but it completely slipped my mind.

If Im reading correctly its saying that they are planning on releasing them separately within anothe rrelease. That implies to me that they are planning on having them as extras on another dvd. not something that they would make extras, animations, etc. Its a shame as I would have liked a lit2 where they would use the g4 recon as well as perhaps animate the two underwater menace episodes. but im not holding my breath for anything like that. At least they are releasing them though which makes me very happy LIke anything else, we'll need to be patient to hear more.

On a side note, I received my copy of Revisitations 3 in the post today. I must say the camerawork on the first DVD extra of The Three Doctors is excellent..!

.....or perhaps another one is about to....
