It isn't a find - but it is.... Ok, DDDBMT, Zabadak. There are two existing performances:- The more familiar one - www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEBFH9R3cg426/12/1967 (Pete Murray introduction) The less familiar one:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=smIsW_ke0yEThis appears to be 05/10/1967, and is orphaned. From all my research noone has actually realized there are two different clips! All functioning TOTP databases seem to think that there is only one performance around, when - and do compare - there are clearly TWO. The latter has been issued on DVD, but any database I check will list only one performance of this song as existing. So it isn't a find, but it is, if you see what I mean.... My thanks to Keith Badman for pointing it out.

I thought it was well known there were two performances of this track. I haven't watched them in a while but isn't one with a whip and the other tinted blue or something?

All the TOTP databases I have checked list one OR the other, and the tinted one is often undated. I have now dated it.
It does appear that the BBC were exporting clips in 1967, as Autumn Almanac comes from the following week's show, and December 21st 'Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde' turned up in Austria!

The tinted one is the rarest I believe, but was issued on videotape years ago as part of the 'Rock 'N' Roll The Greatest Years' series. I think 'Autumn Almanac' may have been released on these collections too. They came out in the late 80's I believe and are easily identifiable by the scrolling text at the start of the performance.

The 'one with a whip' is "The Legend of Xanadu" Yeah, you're right. I should have checked Ray's links before my first post. Oops.

Absolutely correct! It's just for some reason the TOTP cognoscenti seem to think there's only one, database-wise.

Ray, My reasearch on this suggested that it is from 19th Oct 67 and is listed on my site as such. homepage.ntlworld.com/e.watkins/musictv/interest.htmThe clip turned up in holland maybe an insert from a tv show there? I know that the clip was original broadcast on 5/10/67 but was repeated on 19/10/67. This along with the foundations clip suggest it may be from 19/10/67. I've been unable to track down any other info on this clip and am not 100% that it's an orphan. 19-10-67:Jimmy Savile & Tony Blackburn DAVE DEE, DOZY, BEAKY, MICK & TICH – Zabadak! (Still Exists) VAL DOONICAN – If The Whole World Stopped Loving THE BOX TOPS – The Letter (Go-Jo’s) THE FOUNDATIONS – Baby Now That I’ve Found You (Still Exists) THE HERD – From The Underworld THE SEEKERS – When Will The Good Apples Fall TRAFFIC – Hole In My Shoe JOHN WALKER – If I Promise THE BEE GEES – Massachusetts Over to someone who may know more.......

Yeah I knew there were two performances too. I remember seeing the other one on the video tape mentioned by Mike above.

its been on the databases for a number of years as existing twice - 19-10-67 is a repeat of 5-10-67 and then the other widely seen clip is from 26-12-67 of course.
Regards
Mark
