Happy news, all! The very first Doctor Who story to be colourised by the Restoration Team, back in the early nineties, The Dæmons, from 1971, has been confirmed for DVD release at the end of March. The five part story stars the third Doctor, Jon Pertwee, in one of the stories most loved by fans and production staff alike and Jon Pertwee often named it as his favorite Doctor Who story. The Doctor is joined by Katy Manning, playing Jo Grant, as well as UNIT regulars Nicholas Courtney, Richard Franklin and John Levene with Roger Delgado appearing as the main villain of the piece. Christopher Barry directed the story, which was written by Barry Letts and Robert Sloman. The story brought to an end the eighth series of the show. Its popularity saw it repeated the following Christmas in an omnibus form. It received a further repeat in 1992 when the restored versions of each episode were repeated on BBC2 on consecutive Fridays. Extras on the disc include The Devil Rides Out, a twenty nine minute documentary on the making of the story, an unabridged colourisation test of episode one, the five minute Tomorrow's World extract, a seven minute feature currently titled The BBC's Doctor Who - on Location - at Aldbourne (further details are unknown), a six minute photo gallery and Remembering Barry Letts, a thirty three minute feature on the much loved Doctor Who producer. There will be more features confirmed shortly. The DVD is released in the United Kingdom on twenty sixth of March and around the world shortly afterward.

Fantastic News! Cannot wait for this to be FINALLY!!!!!!!! Released!!! Very happy to hear this news here. Now, if we can just hear when Air Lock and Underwater Menace : Episode 2 will be released? Now that is of course the biggest question on all our collective Doctor Who fan oriented minds!
Cannot wait till Ambassadors Of Death, Mind of Evil, and The Ice Warriors are all released. Though, know well these will probably be a ways out as know these all require extensive restoration work.
Thank you again for the great news!
Cheers, Lance.

The set will also now include Radio Times listings for the story, programme subtitles, production information subtitles, coming soon trailer for the Nightmare of Eden DVD and digitally remastered picture and sound quality. Hooray! ;D
It's now been announced the previously titled The BBC's Doctor Who - on Location - at Aldbourne is, in actual fact, a mute amateur eight millimetre film shot in the village of Aldbourne during the location filming, and is now simply titled 'location film'.
You can buy the set from the twenty six of March, next year.
The commentary participants are currently unconfirmed...

I'm surprised this took so long to come out on DVD considering it's held in fairly high regard.
I guess the recolourising process make things complicated.
