Hi, does anyone know if there is a online Database for the OGWT? I have a guide from the RECORD COLLECTOR magazine but i think its not that comprehensive, also has anyone got any info about the Ramones 2 appearances in Jan and Sept 1978.
Many thanks
Jason

The Ramones (as far as I'm aware) never appeared on OGWT in Jan 1978 however there was a cartoon shown for 'Rockaway Beach' but I'm not sure what date that was shown originally. The main performances on OGWT were
19th Sept 1978 Don't Come Close/She's The One/Go Mental
15th Jan 1980 Rock 'N' Roll Highschool/Do You Remember Rock 'N' Roll Radio
26th Feb 1985 Wart Hog/Chasing The Night/Mamas Boy
All the above performances are on the 'It's Alive 1974-1996' DVD except 'Mamas Boy' which seems to be in the Australian archives the last I heard about it?

Thanks Mike, according to my RC OGWT guide, the Ramones appeared on Jan 3rd performing Don't Come Close/She's The One/Go Mental, apparently the Motors were also on the show. They are also listed for 19th Sept along with Magazine. Is this RC guide a fountain of misinformation? Who did appear on the Jan 3rd 1978 edition?

The Ramones and The Motors were billed to appear on the 3rd January 1978 in a newspaper published that morning. 19th September 1978 was Anne Nightingale’s first show.

The Ramones were in the UK on New Years Day, but back in the States on the 5th January.
If anyone's going to know Monte Melnick is (saw all 2263 Ramones shows), and I've sent him a message.
I thought 7th February 1978 was Annie's first show with the Adverts on (meaning the brand, not the BBC going commercial....).
If a ""punk"" band - especially one such as the Ramones - was going to be on before that famous appearance, I think it would have been more publicised THESE days!

There was a pick of the year show on 5th Jan, a John Martyn concert on 10th Jan, The Motors appeared on 24th Jan. The Ramones appeared on 31 Jan 78 edition but only by way of those b&w whistle test films for "cretin hop" and "rockaway beach" this was followed on 7th Feb by The Adverts from Pebble mill. I hope this clears up the confusion.

Yes it does Graham! Thank you. This confirms what I thought (much as I'd love to find a missing Ramones show!)

The Times bills the 19th September 1978 edition as having "a new co-presenter... Radio 1’s only lady disc jockey". Perhaps this was when her role on the show was set in stone and her previous appearances had only been informal one-off’s? Blood Sweat and Tears and Jim Capaldi were scheduled to appear on 7th February 1978, but obviously these things were subject to change.

On 07/02/78, Annie did an interview with Dusty Springfield too.

Reply from Monte A. Melnick:- ""We were in the London from Dec 31 1977 to I'm not sure when we went back to the USA in Jan 78. Then were back in London on Oct 2 1978. according to the liner notes on "Ramones It's Alive 1974 -1996" DVD it was London, England, 9/19/78.""

Jason, I have an extremely detailed database of the OGWT including who appeared when and songs performed, if I can send it to you electronically I will. Thanks Graham, that would be greatly appreciated. I was under the impression that Annie took over the show from Sept 19th 1978 and Bib Harris was a co presenter only turning up occasionally til the end of 79.

Punk and much New Wave, apparently did not sit well with dear old Bob, and I think he went to Radio 210 initially....but that's just legend, as said on the OGWT DVD, if I recall. But her certainly did less after '78.

Still very confusing would the ramones have played the same 3 songs on 2 diffferent OGWT shows? This video if from their appearance on 19/9/78 which was when Bob handed over to Annie, that link was shown on the OGWT story shown last week. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jbYJ0WpBtw
