Thanks, Laurence. That was obviously a poor guess on my part. I've found the full clip on YouTube but there's no mention of where it originated from: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhfuOSHVIow

we have put up a note on the Facebook Top Of The Pops page asking for some help with the Pop Quiz query - there are over 6,000 fans of our page so maybe someone might have taped them at the time and be able to help . I know we have a few archivists over there so its worth a go.
Regards
Mark

A rare clip of Toyah on Pop Quiz has just showed up on YouTube (uploaded by toyah.net): www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaLCoC1TWacIt's only 1min37secs but it does, at least, allow me to see who the other guests on that particular show were. IMDb only listed five. Missing was... Stuart Colman. I've updated the guest list at the start of this thread accordingly.

Am I right in thinking that one 'Pop Quiz' featured George Harrison's performance of the 'My Sweet Lord / Pirate Song' from Rutland Weekend Television as a playout? If so, that was down to me. Alma Player, the PA who was working on the series (and who used to be a PA on the OGWT), I knew. She called me in the office one day and asked if I knew if the Beeb had any footage of George Harrison solo. I said the only video I could think of was his RWT appearance, so they used that!

I would humbly remind people that there was a series of POP QUIZ that was made without Mike Reid, one in 1994 that Chris Tarrant presented. And before you start throwing stones, I did all the archive work on it so watch your respective mouths! I must have all the paperwork somewhere... I know I did use some of my own favourite bits as play-outs such as Free's "Alright Now" from Granada's "In The Round" and "Unbelievable" with Tom Jones from his 1992 series "The Right Time". Also remember getting a phone call from a rather pissed off Neil Aspinall...

I remember the 1994 series as well. It was just a few months after Mike Read had hosted a TOTP 30th Anniversary Pop Quiz special. I always wondered why Mike didn't present the new series. Was he too busy at the time? I guess we could include Series 5 too - although the original idea was just to catalogue the 1981-1984 shows... If you have all the paperwork, Mark, it should make it a lot easier!

That's funny because the other one I can locate is that show. Lots more clips in this show, nothing rare though. S04E07 4 Sep 1984. P.P. Arnold, Bob Geldof, Holly Johnson, Paul Jones, Steve Marriott, Tom Robinson Thomas Dolby - Hyperactive (Promo) Wilson Pickett - In The Midnight Hour (Looks like 'Soul To Soul 1971 Ghana') John Lennon - Slippin' & Slidin' (OGWT 1975) David Bowie - Queen Bitch (OGWT 1972) Prince - Little Red Corvette (Promo) B.52s - Legal Tender (Promo) Peter Frampton - Show Me The Way (OGWT Live I think) Steve Harley - Here Comes The Sun (TOTP 1976) Rod Stewart - Tonight's The Night (Live Footage) Bay City Rollers - Shang-A-Lang (TOTP 1974) Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock N Roll (Promo) Wizzard - Rock N Roll Winter (TOTP 1974) Ike & Tina Turner - I Think It's Going To Work Out Fine (Shindig 1964) played over end credits

Series 2 Ep 10 Not very good quality, but here it is! The quality doesn't matter, Dave, it's the content that's important. Unfortunately, your images aren't showing up at all. Can you upload them again, please? Or send them to me and I'll upload them in my webspace. The Series 2 shows do not seem to be available anywhere so any info on them is most appreciated! I've pieced together extracts of S02E11 that can be found on YouTube and can confirm most of the clips used, as follows: S02E11, Round 3The first question was to Ian Gillan, but the full Q&A is missing from the available extracts. All we get to hear is Mike say: "Ian, it's you to start. Here comes Pink..." and then the clip cuts to a couple of minutes later in the show. Could it have been a rare Pink Floyd clip that was about to be shown? Watch this clip and you decide...Procul Harem - Whiter Shade of Pale (Top Of The Pops, 1967) Traffic - Light Up or Leave Me Alone (Santa Mónica-Cal, 1972) The Monkees - Sweet Young Thing (The Monkees, 1966) Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck - Further Up The Road (Secret Policemans Other Ball, 1981) S02E11, Round 4The Animals - Baby Let Me Take You Home (promo?, 1964) Talking Heads - Psycho Killer (Live in ?, 1978?) S02E11, Round 6The Springfields - Wimoweh (The Springfields, 1961) S02E11, End CreditsUnfortunately, the available clip ends just after Mike says goodbye to the teams so we don't get to find out who was played over the closing credits. Anyone?
