Hello Again, Thought this might warrant a thread of its own. Was just listening to the great Jimi Hendrix Experience " Hey Joe" RSG,1966 audio. Thanks again Jason for spotting this true audio-phonic gem.Thought nothing from this performance,in any fashion, would emerge, very glad to see-hear in regards there. This got me looking about YouTube for other off-air RSG TV recordings.Did not expect to find much, however found one item of interest here. A slide show set to an audio recording ,made upon original broadcast.on an open reel audio unit.Featuring The Who performing "Man With Money" on Ready,Steady,Go! in 1965! Here is what the poster stated on the clip in regards here: "Audio slide-show - British TV 'Ready Steady Go'. (believed Ep #3.12, 19/11/1965). Recorded with a R2R microphone held to the TV speaker." Do not remember this one being discussed,or posted here in the past? Hoping for a more informed second opinion here on this one.If at all possible of course: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT9hIRCLI_oUnder the Comments section the poster has also stated has an audio recording of The Kinks as well on RSG may be uploading ( Was a while ago was stated, just checked the uploads there, nothing as yet there)!Very good news here in regards,am now left wondering which track and show this may be here? Most interesting!! Very interested to hear what is thought here in regards. Cheers,Lance

I'd always assumed the RSG archive was intact as it was big news in the 80s when Dave Clark acquired the rights. I remember Channel 4 repeating some of the shows and I even rented the videotape releases from Blockbuster.
It's very sad to read on Lost Shows that "Out of an original total of 178 episodes, 171 episodes are missing and a further 2 are incomplete." Does that mean he bought just 5 complete shows?

No one really seems to have a deffinite answer there Simon. With these sort of things doubt will have one there either. As this has been discussed on the board many a time now,and do not want to resurrect a very old tale, and rant.As remember the origional thread going somewhat crazily off topic, and was later locked if I am recalling corectly here?I also found some off screen 8mm film material for RSG a while back now, also uploaded on YT by the auctioneer who had sold the origional reel on ebay. And had a clip on his YT channel, displaying some of his materials for sale,as well as his transfered footage. As far as is currently known,RSG is missing many early editions. As sadly, most of the early output of Associated-Rediffusion was later wiped.Though not lost for good,as have been a few good A-R footage-finds lately.Never loose hope.If material like this can be found on the net, leaves hope for further material to be found.I know a few editions and material were released on VHS as you so rightly stated there,However, material seems to be far and scarce, very sad to state there. However,am very glad Jimi's 1st UKTV performance ( On this very show ) was recorded off the TV set on a reel to reel unit.If material as rare as these items can arise, who can really state here.Is uinlikely, but not impossible, only time will tell here in regards.
Hoping the poster may decide to upload the Kinks RSG track on YT,now that would be a real treat indeed.Quality is not too bad at all here, however a bit high honestly on the levels here.Would drop a tad if were me.No,this just means these were the shows he saw fit to re-release from his collection of materials. Now when will we see-hear the rest?Should probably state " As far as we currently are aware" instead of "Out Of" .Now that is a question which I know has been on a lot of people's minds for a very long time.Myself inculded without a doubt there.Anyone else?
Cheers,Lance.

Lance, please don't be offended, but....
Reading your posts reminds me very much of listening to the brilliant Stanley Unwin; the difference being that he meant to be that way! In other words, you just start to think you know what he means, when he goes off on another tangent, sometimes leaving you baffled.
I think I can follow you, though - most of the time!
Colin.

Not offended at all Colin.Constructive criticism is very much appreciated actually. As need to hear this.Assists in preventing such "baffling tangents" from occurring in the future.

Miniscule potatoes here, so to speak, but it transpires that three audio-only extracts of RSG do exists that haven't been noted on tvbrain. Three (high*) numbers, 2 from 21/05/1965 and one from 24/12/1965.
They're all listenable, the former two are in better quality. They're out there on the collectors' market and.... every little helps, right?
The reason I mention this now, is a CD copy has been sitting on one of my shelves for years and I didn't even notice until ten minutes ago it contained anything wiped!
*in-joke. Obvious to enthusiasts....

I have to admit that though I know The Who were The High Numbers once upon a time, I didn't get Ray's reference at first!

I have to admit that though I know The Who were The High Numbers once upon a time, I didn't get Ray's reference at first! Exactly that, John! The three audio bits are the Who's audio performances from 21/05/1965 and 24/12/1965 (two songs and one respectively). They are quite safe as I'm sure there are hundreds of copies of the audio on bootlegs. That said, I'll get mine copied at some point and ship them over to Kaleidoscope, it all helps.
