I was going to ask what the archive status of this 1968 show but looking at some old postings there is or was one episode missing. Is there any update on this?

It would be good if Network could release this series on DVD - even with the one missing episode.

It was an ATV show so ITV (ex-Granada). A potential release for Network then. I wasn't aware of a missing episode until recently (not sure where in the series the missing one comes), which is a shame but hopefully it shouldn't prevent a release. Were the stories self-contained or continuing, does anyone know?

As far as I know they were all self contained stories, but not having seen them I don't know if there was any plot importance in the story order.

Bombed on release, the audience found it far too silly yet this survives almost intact, when the more conventional 'Crime Buster' with the excellent Mark Eden from the same year has virtually all gone.

from what I've read there it does seem to have moved around in the shedules from about the middle of the run, which does seem to point to ratings problems. Was it ever repeated? considering the poor reception (by the audience) possibly not. Crime Buster is one I've not come across before. Mark Eden's always worth watching. How much of Crime Buster remains?

As for VirginOTSS people might 'get it' these days being post Monty Python etc? VTR programmes were never repeated in those days, obviously there might have been a couple of exceptions? However the breakthrough seemed to come with George Cole's Man of our Times which was demanded as a repeat by the public and got a complete second showing even after Rediffusion had lost its franchise. In the early 1970s somebody wrote into ATV asking when The Power Game was going to be repeated, they got the reply "sorry pal we wiped it after final transmission" lucky of course for us today the international prints turned up.
