I have a strong memory of The Golden Shot featuring an Avengers-related guest (possibly MacNee?) on one edition in the Seventies. The interesting thing is, the show also featured an old clip from what looked like a Hendry series 1 episode. Can anyone back me up on this or did I dream it?

If I remember correctly there was a Captain Scarlet edition and there was a Randall & Hopkirk edition of the Golden Shot (obviously both ATV programmes) but dont remember any Avengers.
TV companies in those days never bothered with shows once they had been seen IE today's newspaper, tomorrow's chip wrapping paper type of culture. So as the Avengers finished its premier transmissions in 1969 I doubt whether it would have been on there post 69 if it had been on there.

Related to this, does anyone know if McNee / Rigg ever appeared on any chat / interview shows at the time to promote the series? I can't recall seeing any myself. Just curious.

Macnee appeared on the Eamonn Andrews Show in 1966, that much I know. Yes, he was also on David Frost's show. Rigg was on Good Evening as well. I know there were a few solo appearances but was wondering if they ever appeared anywhere together at the same time.

I remember seeing a clip of something on Telly Addicts once, which was an Avengers-related song called "Dearest Emma" by (I think) the Londonnaires. This was a black and white film clip, but I don't know what the source programme was.

On a related point there was a late Rediffusion show (Spring 68 I think) called Hullaballoo. It was no relation to the American pop show or the abc Blues/Folk show. It was on at teatime and seems a magazine type show aimed at younger viewers. It said it was doing a feature on the up and coming new Avengers series. Don Partridge was also on the show. I bet that was a good one. But cos of the wipings we'll never know!

I've never been able to establish whether MacNee and Blackman appeared on TYLS.
You'd have thought the opportunity to crosspollinate abc shows and promote Kinky Boots would have been irresistible!

Yes indeed, you would think there right! Does seem like an oportunity too good to pass down.I believe Jonathan King has a partial segment from Rigg's interview on Good Evening in 68' I believe. There is also a segment with a few other leading ladies of the day, with Rigg, all talking about the changing face of a female presence on TV, and other like issues then.Clip was posted on YT some time ago by Jonathan King. Was part of a clip tape of Good Evening material,I believe culled from the clip tape presented to King by ABC on his request.Sadly,no complete editions there.Thankfully, some of the Rigg interview and other discussion segment survived, amazingly, quality not to bad overall really there.
Cheers,Lance.

I know its not Avengers related but..I do remember Alexandra Bastedo appearing on TGS (think it was a Monkhouse one) to promote the Champions. They showed a clip from an episode where she saved an Ambassadors life, pushing him away from a open window where a sniper was lurking..of course she heard the sniper with her super hearing ability!
