If Thames archive once had this in broadcast form before, they certainly do not have it now. They only have a timecoded vhs taken from the BBC's Bob Pratt tape.
I made enquiries with them and they confirmed that this is all they hold.
Only the BBC currently hold the clip in broadcast form, and this is just the 5 minute sequence.

And a final point on the Nationwide clip, the reason it has not been shown in full is because there is a voiceover talking over it as seen here www.youtube.com/watch?v=1INYMeY8YBc- which appears to be a domestic recording from the time. It also explains why they used a mix of live soundtrack and album soundtrack in the documentary footage www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj53qb5HChI

There is a voiceover over some of the Nationwide clip, but there's alot more to it than the minute posted from an old video recording as this clip shows. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj53qb5HChIThe whole Pistols segment would be amazing to see in full, even if the song is ruined by a partial voice-over.

Last week, I watched the Sky Arts programme “Anarchy on Thames” about the Grundy/Pistols incident. The programme featured a very short clip from “Today” (01.12.76.) that I hadn’t seen before. Bill Grundy was shown saying the following words:
“Now words actually fail me about our next guests on tonight’s show. If you thought you’d seen it all in the world of pop music, you clearly haven’t”.
Presumably, this occurred right before the infamous interview. The picture quality was quite poor. Was it sourced from a domestic video recording? Could more of the episode still be in existence?
The documentary also included a brief shot of a typed page showing the planned schedule for that edition of “Today”. I copied it from the screen (without correcting the original spelling mistakes). Obviously, Queen didn’t appear, but I imagine the rest of the show went as planned.
“Today” Wednesday 1st December 1976 RT: 20.30 IN: 18.00.30 Director: Tony Bulley Studio Producer: Mike Housego STUDIO SIX 1. Ident + Coming up 2. Titles 3. GRUNDY LINK ONE 4. T/C: Bowel disease 5. IIRC the Sex Pistols were invited on as a late replacement for Queen.

It is indeed Grundy's opening link into the interview - it's from what I believe to be a Thames TV Christmas tape spoofing the incident, and as far as I'm aware it's the only surviving copy of that portion of the programme, or at least the only one that's turned up. There's another line from Bill that's missing, but is included on the Thames TV transcript made after the show, which talks about 'Earrings through the nose, chains around the neck....and that's just the fellas, yeah' The official broadcast quality clip starts from 'They are punk rockers - the new craze, they tell me', and cuts off partway through the end credits.

I looked on YouTube this morning and I saw an excerpt from the Thames TV Christmas tape that features footage of Grundy and the Sex Pistols. The clip is called “The Bronco Expletive Deleter”.

The Sex Pistols clip was Broadcast Quality, and Nationwide was only recorded incase of review if anything dodgy was said on air. In this case, so soon ater their 'Today' show scandal, obviously the BBC made a copy of their appearance incase the same controversy happened and luckily decided to hang on to it. The Nationwide appearance happened before the Today one. I remember that for sure. Also, of course, the BBC would not have had the Pistols on for a song and a chat after the Today fuore
