The two I have linked to on youtube, are the two concerned. I guess what you're seeing is in fact the same VHS copies that survive...except that I'm pretty sure 'Lost Shows' is wrong about part one. I think it's part 7 that's got no master. 'Burning Bright', which is part one was transferred from the Quad master for our 'TellyCon' convention in 1987 onto U-Matic. I wish now of course that we had asked for those others as they may well have protected the tapes from the later botched transfer; I'm afraid we didn't have the funds back then. Incidentally, we could have recovered the Quads if we'd been asked to have a look at them; you should have seen the state of Doctor Who - 'Curse of Peladon' 3. That transfer was made even more complicated by the fact it was NTSC and the oxide was peeling off the binder in strips. Just as an aside, we also paid for a transfer of episode one of 'The Georgian House', another HTV production. I can tell you now that all the seven episodes master quad tapes existed then (1987) but only three survive today. Paul |
