Ive never been to any written archives before, but I'm going down to London soon, so will probably get the chance. I'm know that there are archives in London but as I haven't been to one before, I know that there's the BFI southbank. Can anyone who has been to one recomend it? My interests are mainly for scripts/ camera scripts of missing episodes. Also, can you make copies to take with you, because it would be good to go to one where you can do that.

The BFI library is a good one, although I haven't been for ages (are they still in Stephen St. anyone? I heard they were planning on moving). You will need to join though. I've made photocopies of things (for a charge) although there are restrictions on some things. Not sure if you can make copies of scripts though. The best place for (BBC) scripts of missing programmes or camera scripts is BBC Written Archives (Caversham) though. I've been there many times but it isn't so easy to access it unless you are a bonafide researcher, which is a nuisance.
There is also the Colindale reference library - someone else can probably provide more info on this one though. Westminster central library. There are quite a few.

I'd definately recommend the BBC Written Archives at Caversham. I've been a regular visitor there since 1986. Its 30 minutes from Paddington to Reading on the train, but you have to book a place in the reading room at Caversham. Dont just turn up !! Cheers ! Graeme
