Does anyone have any information about this? 'Three Rivers Fantasy' was the start of day music for Tyne Tees. It was specially composed by Arthur Wilkinson for the station. From what I have heard, in the 1990's the Tyne Tees music library was junked and when they came to celebrate 50 years in 2007 they realised they no longer had a broadcast quality recording of the music. It had never been released on disc. If this is true, it's staggering to think that something that was played every single morning for 40 years and which meant so much to several generations of Geordies ( the last part of the music literally brings a tear to my eye), was lost like this. It must rank among the worst mistakes in British TV as far as junking is concerned. I just thought I would mention it in case someone comes across a recording somewhere. Too much to hope that BBC North-East might have recorded and kept a Tyne Tees start up I suppose? www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYx-HNsqI2k

No, this recording is safe and sound in the Tyne Tees archive. In the 1990s they incorporated the full untouched sound recording into a special 3 minute promo, which aired several times.
When I recently enquired about it, the promo with broadcast quality soundtrack was all present and correct there.
It has also been released on a dvd mock-up produced by Transdiffusion.
