A salt mine?!? Well, it at least proves anything is possible! I can see a few people getting out their picks over the Christmas holiday now to dig up some motorways for those missing Dr.Whos!
I wonder what footage it is?

Well, the full cut of the Wicker Man is meant to be under the M3....and as you know, bits of Dr Strangelove were in the Magical Mystery Tour film....

The reason that it was in a salt mine was that it's in a Warner Brothers film archive that is housed there - so no big deal! This particular one is in Hutchinson, Kansas. Salt mines present excellent atmospheric and temperature conditions to ensure the longevity of film and documents.
They could simply have reported that it was discovered in the Warner Brothers film vaults!

Sucked in dead Stanley. And Douglas has gone up in my esteem, back to pre-Brainstorm days. Sounds like nothing terribly exciting, as Anthony Harvison points out, most of this is documented in Abel's Making of 2001. But it is nice that it still exists, much against wicked Stanley's wishes.
