In my 18 months or so of trying to find footage, almost all of it has been BBC programme material. I am aware that ITV regional archives are spread far and wide, but I still feel I have neglected that network, partly due to BBC footage being easier to at least search for, partly due to the responsiveness of BBC staff, but mainly due to the fact when I located some ITV footage, I was greeted with the response 'I'll find out IF WE WANT IT and where it would go.' (!!!!) I would be very very grateful, that if anyone has names of helpful contacts anywhere in the ITV network, they could forward them by personal message to myself. Thank you, Ray.

Why not just contact Kaleidoscope / Chris Perry with the details? They have channels to ITV but if it's interesting / missing and they don't want it back, Kal will probably archive it themselves for safe-keeping and screening.

I will probably do that in future.
I'm sure a great many ITV staff are great, but I was APPALLED with the particular attitude given.

Hi Ray
It is far easier to channel stuff back through us now, sadly.
As archive staff change quite regularly, and only the execs remain, we talk direct to ITV's management, and they wouldn't want me to put their email addresses up on here.
In a rather bizaare twist, our Kaleidoscope/BFI partnership is bearing real fruit, and the BBC's Treasure Hunt campaign has been quietly closed and it looks like the BFI/us will inherit that job aswell lol.
The one thing I would say re youtube etc is that most commercial broadcasters find the quality too reduced for modern HD usage, and that might explain their lack of interest?

Hi Chris,
As you know in regards to youtube, some of the clips on there have come from either original film or video tapes that have been returned (sometimes after a higher grade digital transfer), sometimes via your good selves. Examples being the Arrows and Showaddywaddy footage this year.
I will VERY HAPPILY point all ITV finds, be they mine or others in the direction of Kaleidoscope, and can I take this opportunity to thank you all again for your sterling work and long may it continue.
Ray.

Hi Ray
Your efforts are fantastic mate, and I'm glad you are on the team, but one small thing -
all your returns via us so far have been on DVD only, and I think that's why TV companies seem les keen. When you can find the original 1500 tape, 2" or 1" then I think they would respond better. Both the Arrows and Showaddywaddy finds are great finds but were only returned on DVd so I can see why TV companies were less keen than they should be mate.
What has been returned on original film or video tape? We can update the Raiders list accordingly then.

Hi Chris, I misunderstood, sorry. I was aware the posters had transferred them to DVD, wasn't sure in which format they'd been returned to yourselves.
I take your point on the TV companies, but when I was in contact with ITV, the gent in question made his remark without knowing what format the discoveries were on! What annoyed me so much was the fact that the ITV chap stated 'IF WE WANT IT'.
The two particular clips in question have not actually been returned yet to me, let alone ITV or yourselves. I know one of the owners personally and he will return his clip. The other one has unfortunately gone to ground.
I currently have one missing piece of footage in my possession, 3 minutes long and from a music show, transferred from a N1500 tape (the tape sadly scrapped before I knew of the clip). The clip is logged in the Raiders list, I am trying to improve the audio, as it was awful!
I am awaiting to hear about a number of other pieces of footage - mainly clips from 70's domestic recorders, all reported on here - and also one audio discovery, that is very important historically, that I can't talk about yet, apart from it's from a TV show and very exciting.
I can assure you, anything else I find is reported on here within 24 hours of me finding it!
Regards, Ray.
