I've searched on ITN Source and there seem to be some big holes in what is listed.
For example, has almost the entire archive of the regional news programme Northern Life been wiped? I know a large amount of Friday Live was disposed of and I heard that the sound library was dumped in the mid-1990's, including the master tapes of the Three Rivers start-up music. Does anyone have any info?
I'm interested in About Britain too. Every regional ITV company used to contribute to that series. Were the films and tapes all held by one company? I searched the index at lostshows.com and it seems to list just nine episodes as missing. Does that mean every other episode made is in the archive?
One which I have on VHS from 06 09 1988 is about the Tyneside photographer Jimmy Forsythe. Made by Tyne Tees and another one that isn't listed at ITN Source.

Robert, I am aware a lot of Northern Life has been wiped.
I have just found an episode of the show which contains original footage of Queen, not found anywhere else. A contact of mine is in dialogue to recover this.
Many news and current affairs shows aren't listed on lostshows.com, but it is an excellent resource for most things.
I'm no expert on either current affairs programming or Tyne Tees, but it does appear that there is definitely a lot of footage that has been wiped.
If you have anything that may have been wiped, PLEASE get it copied and preserved and it can be saved that way,.
Feel free to Personal message me on here if I can help in any way, or contact the good people at Kaleidoscope.
Regards, Ray.

ITN Source hasn't listed regional material for almost a year now, so information has been gradually deleted from their online database. Companies wishing to locate and use regional material have to contact ITN directly now.

Thanks for the replies. It would have been more than a year ago when I searched ITN Source for this.
I do have a few clips of Northern Life from 1981, 1987 and 1988.

I was in the audience for an episode of Friday Live. It was a new year edition (1984) and the subject was survellance - surprise surprise! my parents taped it in the hope of seeing me but the only glimpse of me is my finger tapping on my folded arm as someone else in the audience was interview - of course they didn't keep that tape. I was part of a group from Aycliffe IteC - a YTS scheme and they also taped it but I doubt the organisation exists anymore and even less so the tape
