Hi everyone. Does anyone know where I can source a couple of the programmes from the 1973 New Faces series shown on ATV (...particularly the All-Winners Show)? If anyone knows of sound recordings made privately I would be more than happy! Regards, Chris

Hi Gary. Thanks for the reply. Yes I recorded those editions, but they were from 1975 and '76. I believe the '73 series still exists in the archives, because clips were shown back on Channel 4 back in the late 80s. In 1987 GMTV aired a clip as well, because the runners' up on the show - the band Showaddywaddy - were guesting at the time.
Regards, Chris

I think i'm right in saying that very few editions of New Faces survive, certainly there's not much from the very early period and only a handful from later on. A couple are around on Philips VCR, having been recorded off-air at the time.

In Channel 5#'s programme about Victoria Wood on Friday they showed a couple of clips from New Faces but they looked like VHS copies as they were a little fuzzy. I seem to recall someone saying that Les Dennis held a copy of the final he was in with Victoria Wood. Don't know if there's any truth in that.
