www.bbc.co.uk/archive/broom_cupboard/A few clips on there, some not seen before apparently, and, according to the site: "The picture and sound quality of this item is variable because it was taken from the surviving VHS tape. This item has been edited for copyright reasons and to remove editorially unrelated material." When were broom cupboard clips routinely recorded then? I didnt realise the dumping was going on as late as Andi Peters leaving in 1993.

I doubt these were generally recorded in the first place as they would have been regarded as continuity (which was not kept specifically, although examples are on the beginnings / ends of live programmes), rather than programmes in themselves. The shows either side of them would have been pre-recorded and archived separately anyway. So any existing examples will be from either home recordings (on whatever format) or VHS reference copies made internally at the time.

Actually if continuity hasn't been kept, I presume this rules out ever getting my daughter's birthday mention and picture clip. For some reason we didn't have the video recorder on at the time !

It probably does, yes. Unless, of course, the BBC still have any of the VHS viewing copies they may have recorded at the time. Not sure if they would be catalogued as such anyway.

Brian - You could always write to the BBC to see if they still have the clip

I remember Debbie Flint throwing her head in her hands when Rocky & Bullwinkle went wrong, saying "it would have to happen today, wouldn't it?!" - which I think happened just before where that clip starts.
I also remember an episode of Willo The Wisp going "out of rack" aswell, and I think it was another female presenter whose name escapes me (I don't *think* it was Debbie Flint again, but it might have been). She was the one who had the imaginary friend Aristotle.
