just got this by e-mail from the good people at vintage-radio.net forum ------------------------------------------------------------------- William, I have warned you THREE TIMES about not continually spamming the forum with messages about www.hypernova.co.uk/total_rewind/ by forum message, but you continue to do so. I have therefore cancelled your forum membership. You may NOT join again. ------------------------------------------------------------------- blimey I only mentioned it twice! and I was only answering a posting enquiry, thats pretty damn harsh considering I didn't break any of the forum rules. Actualy now I think of it, he had no grounds to ban me at all. strange lot! still its his forum and he can run it any way he pleases, pity though its a good forum. I presume he meant "I have warned you THREE TIMES about continually spamming the forum" they way he put it makes it sound as if he wants me to spam the forum to the moderators sorry If this is an innaproprate posting please remove it if you think it is I wouldn't want to slander anyone

don't worry William the owner appears to have heavy monthly periods and can be quite pedantic sometimes. Your probably aware of the famous Christmas postings where he threatened to ban someone who had mentioned crimbo in a thread, without affiliating it to a broken down TV/VCR/wireless. Leave it a week and then go and grovel if you want to return.

Thanks all no I don't think groveling will be nescessary, my above thread would have actualy been longer if my booked internet session hadn't timed out, the real reson for my posting (I should have got to the point quicker, but I had to put the rest down just so that I could be sure that it actualy happened) was that I was in the middle of negotaions with someone who had some cv2000 or 2100 tapes but no working machine, it was then that I made the mistake of mentioning total rewind and this forum, or to put it in his words "constantly spamming", so perhaps considering I've been banned for life could someone see if they can have a go, but be careful. ps I realy do love this forum

I must offer my support to William here. I think it's a bit much too, considering it was me who was asking for the CV2100 service info and he was obviously only trying to help. No point getting excited about the tape, there's only one and it's in a "squeaking then sticking fast to the heads" condition!
If anyone else does have info about the Sony CV2100, I'd be pleased to hear from them.
Ta, Jim.

Thanks again for the links. One of them quotes the service manual so obviously has a copy. The 1/2" tape doesn't shed oxide and isn't brittle, it just won't transport properly.

if its just lost its low friction coating, it may be recoverable. but as you say it most likley isn't anything we've come across these tapes with 1980s programs on them, but there's always a chance.
