In the past (on this forum - and others) there have been requests for information on getting 625 line pictures displayed on old 405 line sets. This means you can play old 'Dr Who' episodes on 405 lines (of you wanted to do this). I thought this information might benefit the large number of people who post on here are elsewhere who are fascinated with 405 line TV. I'm listing the details below of a brand new converter, just available and if you mention the '405 Alive' connection, you can benefit from a price reduction. If you want further details, contact the manufacturer (not me!). Thanks, Andy.
‘Usher’ 625/405 Line Standards Converter
A very limited number of these converters are being manufactured based on the famous ‘Pineapple’ standards converter. These are competitively priced for
BVWS / 405 Alive readers at £190 fully assembled. If required, a power pack can be supplied for a further £10 if ordered at the same time. The Converter will also incorporate a switch which will allow interpolation variation to be made.
If you want to feed the output from this converter to a 405 Television set, remember that you will also need a modulator to modulate the video signal to VHF, which then can be fed into the aerial socket at the back of the Television. If you don’t have a Modulator, please contact the manufacturer for further details (see end of this article).
In a typical set-up you can run a VHS tape of an old programme and directly display the output on a 405 line set.
The unit is simple to connect and uses standard connections for video input and output. There are two basic switch functions to control the operation. This switch performs ‘freeze frame’ (last frame entered is displayed as a still) and ‘interpolation mode’. Conversion is achieved using microchips.

It is very important to confirm that you saw this offer in connection with 405 Alive/BVWS magazine to receive this product at the specified price.
You may be asked to place a small deposit on any telephone order. Payment arrangements can be discussed when you make your order.
