The U.S. jazz singer Johnny Hartman is supposed to have broadcast a tv series in England in the 1950's , or so he said in a New York Times interview in 1982, shortly before his death in 1983. Does anyone know if any of it has survived? www.nytimes.com/1982/05/21/arts/pop-jazz.html

Probably unlikely but it may depend on who made it. If it was, for example, ATV, then there's a better chance of it's existence as quite a few of their light entertainment / music shows from the '50s and early '60s are still around. If it was BBC or one of the other ITV companies, the chances are slim.

There does not seem to be any reference at all anywhere to this being an ITV network show. Andrew Martin will know if it was on the BBC,if it was it may have been one of the early ephemeral 1950s live show series?
Hartman says in the article 'that he came back to the states and every one had forgotten him' which considering the exposure TV gives not only in viewers but connecting with other local artists eg Johnny Dankworth is a bit puzzling.
