Hi, I was hoping that the BBC would see their way clear to include audio recordings of the 3 missing episodes of Series 2 on the Dad's Army DVD set, but there is no sign of this happening. I have never heard of any audio recordings of these missing episodes existing, but surely someone somewhere must have recorded the audio onto reel to reel tapes at the time they were first shown (and no, including the Radio versions wouldn't cut it with me I'm afraid). Wouldn't these be the radio performances of the missing TV episodes?

They were adapted for radio (by Harold Snoad and Michael Knowles) so they wouldn't be quite the same - there are quite a lot of visual gags in the series! Couldn't tell you off hand if the missing episodes were among those that were adapted, but not every Dad's Army episode was, I think.

Hi Mark & Andrew, I have the radio adaptations, but what I was hoping for (if they exist) was off-air audio recordings of the missing TV episodes. Someone, somewhere must have taped them on reel to reel at the time of their original broadcast. If such recordings exist, these could have been included on the DVD with still photos from these episodes (and we know there are such stills as some are included in the "Lost Episodes" book). Peter

included on the DVD with still photos from these episodes (and we know there are such stills as some are included in the "Lost Episodes" book). Clearly, then, there *are* no off-air audio recordings which could be included...
