Another year...some more missing material recovered! From the same National Archives Of Australia compile that yielded the formerly missing Goodies ‘Commonwealth Games’ footage comes another missing Goodies excerpt. An ‘advertisement’ entitled ‘Dreaded Wheat’ from the episode ‘The Lost Tribe’ has come to light. Television researcher extraordinaire, Andrew Pixley, has confirmed with the BBC that this was missing from the BBC’s collection. The NAA compile listed the ‘Dreaded Wheat’ clip as being from another series 2 episode ‘Pollution’, though admittedly the clip didn’t match my memories of the ‘Pollution’ episode (another missing clip?), so much thanks to Andrew for taking the time to check this further to confirm that the item was indeed missing. Cheers, john

Hooray, that's awesome! I am hoping that someone with connections like that will pursue the "Breaking Point" footage that I noticed in the same National Archives...

Well done on your finds John. It looks like this time you found something that was censored from the BBC master-tape as well, a bit like the Monty Python Satan animation. It really is quite lucky that sometimes they made the film recordings before they finished the tape edits! I think the Breaking Point clip was found last October by people on The Mausoleum Club www.mausoleumclubforum.org.uk following your lead and using the Australian Archive online search. They found some BBC Benny Hill as well but nothing seemed to happen after that. Perhaps you could look at them next time you visit looking for Goodies clips and can "free" them the same way?

I searched again and at The Mausoleum Club they thought it might be the American series of Breaking Point so maybe that put them off looking into it. Then Ally posted here that it actually was the British one and should be rescued. But what about poor Benny and his missing 25 seconds? No body mentioned him since!

Hi Giles
Sorry for the delayed reply. Much thanks, I'll be popping in to the NAA soon, so I'll have a check.
Cheers, john

Ally, the series you have mentioned sounds interesting, do tell! As a Doctor Who fan I find it especially interesting, as it was William Russell's first role after leaving the show. He appears to be the star, and it's some kind of spy thriller. William Russell is a dear old man and it would be great to bring a smile to his face by finding some footage from this completely missing show. As to the possibility that it's the American version, it could be I suppose. If you look at the tx date however (1968) it's closer to the 1966 UK show than the 1963-64 US programme.
