Does anyone here remember a programme shown around late 80s early 90s called THE A TO Z OF TV i think it was shown on channel 4 i actually taped it at the time but stupidly through it away several years ago i wondered if anyone remembers what was shown on it as my memory has gone blank i think there was quite a bit of archive tv shown .Also around the same time on channel 4 they showed a programme dedicated to uk tv ads showing loads of old ads i also taped this at the time but no longer have it i think it may have been shown in two parts but not quite sure does anyone here remember these shows.

I remember it very well, Alan. It was at a time when C4 used to put effort into archive programmes and decent repeats. Each section had a theme and introduced by someone well known like Michael Palin who did a section on Ally Pally and Rodney Bewes (thrillers). It was a pretty hefty show of about 3 hours but I wish they still did things like this. The following year there was 1001 Nights Of TV which tried to repeat the formula tho not as successfully. Christmas time on C4 always had interesting repeats and earlier years had whole programmes and archive evenings with a theme to them.
