Ok, sorry for going a bit off topic here(!). But this is something I've never found out (as I missed the programme at the time). When blue peter (BBC1) dug up its time capsule buried way back in 1971 what did they find? From memory I've heard maybe something like a book or film survived but not much else. Can anyone else elaborate on that?
Thanks

That's intresting, after doing more digging on youtube I managed to find the burial of the box from 1971 as well from a programme called "boxpops" (just a clip though).
Dosen't look like much was left but it was intresting to find out that the '71 box faired better than the '84 box. Did raise some questionst though .....
* What was on those two open-spool tapes? They both looked quite long (too long just for the intro music), either a lot of tape was left unused or something that was on them was never played back. It didn't sound too bad (though only one tape was played back) though I have a few old open spool tapes here from the 60s (nothing missing on 'em though!) and they play ok.
* What about the '71 film? The programme only showed a few seconds worth. It looked badly damaged so prehaps either the whole film was ruined bar a few seconds? Wonder why they never showed it in full sometime later?
Intresting to see though -- the '84 record was in a pretty sorry state though, I guess it had warped and become damaged because the material (vinyl) is very similar to to film itself?
