Saturday Scene

Does anyone recall this 70's show? I remember one episode where they made a chocolate cake in the shape of the Arc de Triomphe, and Alvin Stardust appeared.

I was also wondering what may still be archived?

Well, there's an audio interview on a Sparks re-issue.

The archive WOULD be held by Granada/LWT. I can't give you any more info - but I do remember it! Sally James, pre-Tiswas!

There was a lot of 'Saturday Scene' listed by the ITN Archive. But it seemed to be limited to 'Saturday scene Awards' from 1975 on; and 'Supersonic Saturday Scene'.

I didn't recall the latter but it was a cross between the two shows mentioned in the title.

That sounds right John, as remember when someone brought up Saturday Scene some time ago.Remember the holdings are not well sadly if memory serves there.Am not sure if you are aware of the fantastic resource that is lostshows.com.Where you can search with ease in regards to archive listings, and apparent archival holdings.In this case as can be seen here:

lostshows.com lists "176 episodes are missing or incomplete out of a total of 188".Leaving 12 editions yet known to exist officially(?).I hope this has been of some assistance here.

Thanks Lance - Did look; I would guess the audio only survives for Sweet though I recall the Sparks show. Not the performance but they made a 'chocolate fudge cake in the shape of the leaning tower of Pisa' with Sally James. In those days Sally was more of a straight presenter regardless of how wacky the guests were.

I recall the show originally being an untitled link then she wore a rather plaintive screen press name with its title on it. They stylised it later on.

Assume what survives is just pre recorded interviews then.

Like LIFT OFF though they used stock band clips.

My recollections of this are very fuzzy. Was it originally just a link between actual shows, and then became a show in its own right?

Pretty sure it was always a link. What I meant was later Sally had the title written on her shirt; but originally it was just Sally James in a plain T shirt bridging shows.

It was basically the same thing untitled.
