Does anyone remember this series from, erm, I'm guessing, 1975? BBC? Is it in the archive? If so, has it been issued on DVD, or will it be?
I'm sure it started with a guy smashing his TV - quite shocking to a TV addict as I was then - at the tender age of 6, or whatever I was.
(I was that much of a TVaholic, I used to watch the Engineering Announcements and Open University too....)

Yes, it all exists. A film series, I think. If Network were still releasing BBC stuff, this would be an ideal candidate!

I remember this. Didn't the opening credits also show electricity pylons with flashes and discharges?

That's the one! I obviously remember the first episode. Scary for a wussy six year old, such as I was!
It was brilliant....

The acting let the thing down. Some turns were truly atrocious...

This series was based on a trilogy of novels by Peter Dickinson, collected in one volume as 'The Changes Trilogy'. I realise that you might well know this, by now if you didn't before.

It was reshown on UK Gold a few years ago.
I agree about a DVD release.
There IS a fan site about this programme.
Due to the nature of the board, I cannot provide the link here, unfortunately.
For 1975 - and other six year olds like myself, at the time, it was SHOCKING TV, fairly doomsday for a childrens TV show.

I bought a copy of this series last year. I just did a Google search and a guy in Bristol was selling dubs from the UK Gold repeats. I watched this series in 1975 ( I would have been about 11 at the time ) but it wasn't nearly as good as I remebered it. A definate case of looking through rose-coloured glasses !!
