Does anyone know if much exists from WORLD OF SPORT, especially from 1965 to 1968 when Eamonn Andrews was the host. I've seen only a few clips with Dickie Davies on youtube.

Interesting question as I always wondered if those girls at the back rushing along with typewriters were doing anything real or were just extras and part of the set?

This has been covered before in previous threads but WOS was transmitted by ABC up till 1968 so expect there to be no editions existing at all from that time! After that, who knows?!? I'd expect that the various sporting features were kept to varying degrees (i've seen b/w VT clips of Wrestling and soccer, for instance, although I don't know if these are rarities) but very little - if any - of the actual World Of Sport studio links with Dickie Davies etc. The only broadcast quality clips of any of this type of thing i've seen are from the edition with Eric Morecambe from the late '70s (?) and probably only recorded for that reason. Seems crazy that they didn't see fit to keep an occasional example of the sporting output but I doubt they did. Off-air videos seem the likeliest option of finding this material.
These programmes were a part of regular Saturday afternoon life for many years and it's a great shame if no studio material survives, particularly the early years as I can remember watching the ABC editions including a Christmas Eve special (possibly 1965) presented by Eamonn Andrews, which featured a banjo-playing hillbilly character singing a specially written song for the occasion!
Does anyone in the know have definite info on this topic? I'd like to find out conclusively myself.

The girls in the background were LWT office staff earning a bit of 'pin money' at the weekend. They weren't typing anything pertinent to WOS - they were just 'props' if you like.

Well there are certainly some examples in existence from the mid `70s. The 15 May 1976 edition is represented as this covered the Scotland V England game live from Hampden Park. All the material from the end of the match until the closing credits has been kept totalling several minutes. This includes not only post match analysis and interviews but also the racing results, Australian Pools news and a sports round up at the shows conclusion. The edition for 24 May 1975 - featuring live coverage from Wembley of England V Scotland - has a link at the end of a commercial break featuring a brief appearance of Dickie Davies handing over to the outside broadcast. I suspect others are likely to be represented in this manner too, most likely at the end of major events - the FA Cup Finals would be a good bet.

At a guess the earliest material I've seen from an actual show looks about 1970; features the 'teleprinter' and is in colour.
There's a sort of preview which is on film and monochrome which looks c. 1967 - 68. Dickie Davies is wearing a trendy neckerchief and has not yet got the fleck of white in his hair.
