Hi First time post! I am posting here in case this news is of interest to this forum's readers but may not get exposure in the UK. The 1971 Australian film WAKE IN FRIGHT has been re-released on 35 mm film in Melbourne and Sydney after its restoration screening at Cannes in May 09. There are a number of articles on the web site of Australian newspapers but the URL's are too long for me to paste in. The whole point is that it has effectively been missing or lost for 20 years and the one and only print in the world, an original set, was found in an archive in Pittsburgh USA, after a long search and just days before being scheduled for destruction. Those interested in this story, inc. those seeing parallels with the search for missing DW, might look at the following article and related ones: www.theage.com.au/news/entertainment/film/finding-the-lost-footage/2009/06/24/1245522878731.htmlThe restored film will get a R4 DVD release later in 2009, but I am only grateful it was found by the persistence of the searchers and restored just in the nick of time too.

I was hoping this would get a release outside Australia but it looks like it is not to be. So I got the Oz release. What an interesting and powerful film. Very unusual. I don't believe I'll ever think of Donald Pleasance in the same way again and who knew Gary Bond had such a range as an actor? It is a very welcome addition to my collection.
