The fantastic entertainer Danny la Rue has just died. I'm gutted. Thought he was superb - one of the last remaining music hall acts in Britain. These people are irreplaceable - they just don't make them like that anymore.
At the Kaleidoscope event at Bafta in 2007, they showed some of his late sixties ITV special. It was British comedy at it's very best.
Don't know if any of the powers that be at Kal would condider showing the whole superb show as a tribute on saturday? I know there is already a packed line-up, but maybe it could be squeezed in somewhere??

Friend of mine about 25 years ago was a professional photographer and used to say that Danny La Rue was the most difficult assignment he ever had. A great entertainer but yet another set of contradictions it seems. Hardly any of the greats left now - Ken Dodd and that's about it....
