...but why no 20/12/73? That is a cracking show with no Glitter, Stones or mute links!

Seems that VH1 in Australia is going to be broadcasting TOTP from the 1970s starting August 8.

Where did you get this information from, I hope it's true as I receive VH1 Australia.

I can confirm this for sure - I am not sure in what format the shows will be shown (complete as per Einsfestival or just segments as per the French Arte re-screenings) or how often. If it is anything like their treatment of our local TOTP equivalent ""Countdown" then it will be a disaster. VH 1 is a dreadful cable channel (like all cable here) with huge intrusive logos, showing everything in the wrong screen resolution and so forth. I am not getting too excited at this stage but I will check it out for sure. As it a guess, they have probably purchased an equivalent package to either Arte or Einsfestival. I hope I am proven wrong though.

Top Of The Pops is indeed going to be shown on VH1 Australia on 8 August but according to the tv guide I've seen it looks like it's going to be a compilation of "Madchester" bands, possibly an edition of TOTP2 certainly not from the 1970s as I was hoping.

Next up on 20th August is 26-8-76, hosted by Noel Edmonds! Uh-oh! What happened to the show from 27-12-74 which was originally scheduled for the 20th August? I was especially looking forward to that one! Andreas

Nah, I don't believe that. So far they haven't dropped any shows with GG in, instead his appearances were simply edited out. Maybe the quality wasn't suitable for broadcasting, like some of the older shows. That would be a pity because unlike the other shows from 74 they've been showing the past weeks, I don't have a copy of 27-12-74 yet. Does anyone know for sure if that show exists in good shape?

27-12-74 is in perfect order, as the copy in circulation is perfect also. I'm quite happy for them to carry on repeating Edmonds shows that we haven't seen before though...

I guess it's because they don't want two show two TOTP editions from the same month - two of the three skipped TOTP shows on Einsfestival so far have been from the same month as already broadcasted shows. So they probably don't intend to broadcast the second existing show from December 1974 - which really is a pitty. And which would mean that other shows in the future will be skipped.
Does anybody know if there are full playlists of the TOTP shows from 1976 on somewhere on the internet, as these editions will be broadcasted very soon...
