That would be great news indeed if they finally decided to release this series.

I remember this one from Saturday evenings! I don't know how many of the UK editions survive but I would guess that the US copies will all be out there somewhere (they went out under a different title there, I think). Lots of good guest stars in this one, which would probably make it worth releasing. Does anyone know if the UK versions all survive?

I have just the one episode but I'm sure there's many more out there if you look hard enough I do have a 16mm film recording of one of the 1970 editions. I'm pretty certain they all exist officially; I have offered it to both the BFi and 'Treasure Hunt' and they weren't interested. Regards, Paul

seems like the itc stuff is shrouded in mystery. has no one ever tried to catalogue it? presumably what exists is now all in the itv archive.

Even when you are working on a project with granada intenational (who own the itc catalogue) and are buying footage it's hard to find out what exists and what doesn't! This happened on a project I was working on last year which featured tv appearences by a single artist. Whilst they have a good basic idea of what programmes they have, they often have no details about the programmes themselves making research hard. It also appears that very little attempt has been made to recover much material sold overseas that no longer exists in the UK, especially when so much was sold to the US.
Why the ITC material hasn't been properly catalogued and added to the ITN source listings is beyond me - especially when all the rest of granada's material is there.

Not quite right to say that the ITC material isn't properly catalogued as when it was still called the ITV Catalgue, it was very well catalogued. It's the owners since then - Polygram chucked a load of stuff out for one thing and when Carlton took over, it took an age for them to find out what was left and where it was.
Nowadays Granada International (new name for Carlton International) have no money, resources, or indeed incentive, to recover material, though I must admit I have returned stuff to them over the past few years.
And it may actually still be that ITN source do not have the rights to sell what was the ITC material, as Carlton/Granada International have been a different entity to the usual clips sales people for sometime.
But it is indeed a shocking waste that so much material that was part of the ITV catalogue will never see the light of day again.
