I wonder if many of the old Black and White 'Music Time' broadcasts exist? I remember the hosts being Mari Griffith and Ian Humphris.
Speaking of old School Programmes who remembers Sam on Boffs Island with a very youthful Tony Robinson?!

The beginning of a B&W Music Time was found on a Philips tape a while back, a mid 70s showing with one of the only full clips of the Schools diamond to be found at the start. The tape runs out a short way into the programme though.

Just mentioned this on a similar subject on the radio thread and may be worth mentioning here, it could be worth writing to schools to see if anyone (teachers particularly) recorded these shows, you never know, some could be sitting in the back of storage cupboards somewhere. I particularly remember teachers recording various school programmes in the early 80s so they could play them back to us at the allocated timetabled time.

Oh, school memories. What was the series that Alan Rothwell used to produce ? Was it Picture Box ? Remember seeing him on Brookside about 20 years ago and feeling really old when I saw him. Goodness knows how old Id feel if I saw him now. We used to be allowed into the staffroom upstairs at Junior School to watch Picture Box. Happy days !

indeed! i remember picture box and alan rothwell too! i always thought Picture box seemed quite different from the rest as they used to include some foreign films as some of the stories (I'm sure the red balloon was featured once), infact granada childrens programmes always seemed to have a different quality to them as if they were produced for a totally different generation completely - wasnt there a series about a boy called sam and his magic ball? or was that in picture box? i seem to remember thinking it was rather surreal but enjoyed it immensely...

You mean this one... www.thechestnut.com/magic.htmRichard Brill !! Flippin Arkwright the horse, used to love that. As I said earlier, our teacher used to take us up to the staffroom to watch this on TV. Brought back a lot of memories did that ! And Aunt Mill, we used to tell our lovely teacher at the time ( Mrs Twist ) that she looked like her. This is crying out for release. As has been said though, there simply MUST be some recorded onto tapes, lying in the back of dusty old school cupboards somewhere.

Hmm I think I'm going for the Magic Ball too - the theme tune brings back soooo many memories - almost similar to Picture Box which is probably why I associated them (and the Granada link). Thanks Eric and Richard for sharing the links!
