There is a rumour going around that Yorkshire TV and its complex in Leeds are being axed completely and will keep only two shows going in other studios ? (Countdown and Emmerdale)
anybody heard anything ?

Indeed, it seems ITV is dying.
Does anyone know what impact this will have on their archive holdings? If they are axing budget all over the shop, its quite likely that their archive holdings might be 'downsized'.
Any thoughts?

Well... on a similar theme, former staff at Border have expressed concerns about what will happen to the Border TV archive, now that the studios in Carlisle are being closed down: www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/pledge_over_border_tv_s_film_archive_1_520620?referrerPath=newsObviously a spokeman for ITV has said that nothing will be lost, but would anyone believe what ITV says these days? Wasn't there still tapes just lying around in Broad Street when there was the visit shortly before it was knocked down?

Everybody should now make efforts to record as much continuity, idents etc as they can. The way things are going, theyll be like gold dust in a few years. Its been obvious that this was going to happen for a while now, but its sad in a way. A possibility now that a merger with CH4 and CH5 is on the cards. Gonna be interesting to see what happens.

As an ex-Carlisle and Gretna resident, Border is of personal interest to me too. Whether they could store things with the rest of the archive of Granada's is one option - it's quite interesting that they are talking aboot having it 'somewhere else in the city' (I presume they mean Carlisle here....).
Also with Yorkshire's Studios being downsized, a problem exists there too.
However, I wouldn't be surprised that they might find stuff gathering dust in the corners of Durranhill....as we all know, footage has a habit of being misfiled also.
