It was Rick Prelinger who kicked the ball rolling on this and he is well known for his own remarkable film archive. If you have further questions, why don't you contact them?

May I suggest people take a quick look at the debate generated on the following forum (with replies by a number of BBC folk) before signing up for this thing:

www.rtforum.co.uk

Basically, it's a waste of time, and will certainly not help the cause of the archive TV enthusiasts.

And before you say so Andy, I know it is well intentioned, but I think this is a case of no action being the preferable response.
