Griff Rhys Jones appeared in TV adverts some years ago in which a clip from a Peter Cushing film (Cushing in evening wear sitting in an armchair) was included to make it appear as if Jones was speaking to him. I'd like to know the name of the film if anyone can help.

I don't recognise the film, I'm afraid.
As you say, Cushing is seated, with a small teacup in his hands. He's wearing a smoking jacket and a dark bow tie, which might narrow it down!
He has three lines:
"It's pre-war". "Yes, it's a bit of a gothic monstrosity". "I've only got one more bottle left in the cellar".

It wouldn't be "The Ghoul" would it - just a thought, I haven't seen it since the 80s!

No, it's not "The Ghoul" - much older than that. It's possibly from a TV production but I can't identify it from the list of his credits that P.C. includes in both of his autobiographical books.

Well, from the photo' on page 97 of "The Peter Cushing Companion", it looks like it might be The Man Who Wasn't There (1962).

1962 sounds about right- but Cushing's autobiography doesn't list a film called "The Man who wasn't there". Could this be another title for "The Man Who Finally Died" which TEXT listed for 1962?

Sorry, I meant The Man Who Finally Died.
I'll post a couple of screen grabs next week, if it will help?

I've received confirmation from David Miller, the author of the Peter Cushing Companion, that it is indeed The Man Who Finally Died:
----------------------------------------------------------
I think Cushing is holding a liqueur glass rather than a tea cup, because the line about the bottle in the cellar refers to the liqueur he's drinking with Stanley Baker. The lines are in the wrong order - I know that much, and the 'Gothic monstrosity' line refers to the house, the exterior of which is Oakley Court.

Thankyou for this information I wonder if one of the TV channels will ever show it instead of the endless re-runs of Norman Wisdom, Carry-on films etc.
