Anyone else remember this now somewhat obscure series? Has it ever been repeated since its original run? Would LOVE to see it released on DVD , but I'm not holding my breath. Steve

I think they used CSO to put the actors against comic strip backgrounds, in keeping with the original newspaper serials. It also kept the budget down, I guess. I remember being entertained by the show but not much else. It should still be in the archives, though an unlikely candidate for DVD release.

I watched this as a kid as I liked Glynis in Blakes 7. I am completely certain this one is still in the archives and for the curious it can be viewed in its entirity on youtube. Just ahve a bit of a sniff around, it is definitely there.

The now defunct PROGRAMME PRESERVATION SOCIETY did an article on JANE in one of there RADIO TELESCOPE magazine.
Good series but I am sure it was on BBC2

I remember it going out on BBC2, I think it went out over consecutive evenings and am sure it may have got a repeat. I certainly don't recall it been followed up though.

IMDB - www.imdb.com/title/tt0083432/fullcreditsI remember thinking it was all extremely sexy, but then I was only about 10 years old at the time. Trouble is, I remember more about Max Wall being in it than Jane herself! I'm sure there was a Radio Times front cover too. Plotwise, it did rather resemble those Kenny Everett "Suddenly all my clothes fall off!" sketches, albeit predating them in it's orginal 'Forces Favourite'-era comic strip form.

Neil Innes did the theme tune, which is why I have a copy of this. It's out there. Youtube according to Greg H.
A sexy if silly little series. I really liked the look of it actually, the tinted black and white against comic strip backdrops.

The effect of CSOing live action onto cartoon backgrounds was the style of Ian Keill and Mike Hill (who died recently). Started with 'The End of the Pier Show' with Johns Wells/Fortune/Bird, Madelaine Smith and Neil Innes in 1973ish. Continued with 'In The Looking Glass' which I remember as a brilliant programme with music by Carl Davis. Then Jane and the 2 St Ursula's School series completed the run.
There are links with Rutland Weekend Television I believe. I must get all this straight in my head one day! There's very little information online.
