As I was hoping to update the OOTU 'surviving clips' pages in the near future, I thought it was about time I asked whether someone could help me verify the exact archive status of the two pieces of 'censored' 16mm material identified by Damien Shanahan from the series - one brief section from the 1969 play "Immortality Inc" and the other a 33 second clip from the 1971 play "The Last Witness". The current section on these items implies that they are official archive holdings, but I've never been able to confirm whether or not the Out of the Unknown material had actually been returned to the BBC in any format?
Can anyone help? Many thanks.
Colin

Like the Dr who Censor clips they themselves are now probably wiped..
The censor clips were never returned.. the BBC got back a new16mm copy which by all accounts was a rather "poor" copy.

Thanks for the prompt reply Adrian - much appreciated. I suspected that this was indeed the case - a copy being made for the BBC whilst the original 16mm material was retained (and perhaps discarded). I couldn't recall however, whether a 'copy' of all the OOTU material had actually found its way back to the BBC archives in the same manner as the Doctor Who material ( I believe there was also material from the likes of 'Dr Finlay's Casebook' etc). Thanks for the info.

I don't think the OOTU clips ever returned to the BBC in any form, I'm afraid.

bugger, so that means they were junked then. The abc destroyed the Dr who censor clips to the day they were meant to be as well. after making a "poor copy" so in this case no copy was made.. someone just found em so they could be scrapped.

I don't think the OOTU clips ever returned to the BBC in any form, I'm afraid. did no one ask for them or was there another reason they were not felt worth obtaining?
