Hello all,
I have recently been watching what I can of this fine series. As far as I can tell, there were 24 episodes between 66 and 70. I have heard that the survival rate for this show is bad. Can anyone out there definitively say what exists in the archives and what doesnt? I would be very interested to know. Their version of Frankenstein was pretty dark, I really enjoyed it!
Thanks in advance.

Prints of only two episodes from the original ABC run are known to exist (The Open Door, The Fall Of The House Of Usher plus a five minute clip of one other) but all episodes of both of the Thames version series survive on original 625 line VT (the 1968 series is b/w, the 1970 series is colour).

The 5 minute clip is casting the runes, right? Its good to hear that there are a few more of these around than I previously thought! Do you know if there is a reliable episode guide online somewhere? I had a look but didnt find any good ones. I wonder if this will ever come out on DVD? The copies I have a bit ropey Cheers for the info! G

Yes, it's just the ABC episodes that are thin on the ground. A shame as those are the episodes I remember seeing most, with David Buck as the resident host. The Thames episodes are a slightly different format though.
I'm not aware of an episode guide online but I could probably post one up.

That would be very appreciated if you could! I havent found one yet after quite a bit of searching. Ive heard that some of the early ones were pretty amazing. Was it called the lost heart or something, that was remade into one of those christmas ghost stories? I cant remember right now. Ive been really impressed with what ive seen of this series so far, Another reminder of how TV should be done!
