I happened to be talking to the actress Sue Holderness yesterday, and mentioned the Channel 4 comedy series 'It Takes A Worried Man', that she starred in with Peter Tilbury (who also wrote it) and Christopher Benjamin, and which was broadcast from 1981 to 1983. She told me that the entire series had been 'lost' by Channel 4. This struck me as odd for something so (relatively) recent, but Ms Holderness assured me that this was the case. Does anyone happen to be in a position to confirm or deny this?

Just pasting Marc's post into the appropriate thread here: Malc Prosser Guest It Takes a Worried Man « Thread Started Today at 1:28pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sue Holderness is talking nonsense .... for one thing the series was made by Thames Television and their successors (Fremantle) hold the archive, not Channel 4 who bought in programmes but did not make them (apart from "Right to Reply"). Checking out the Lost Shows Database gives the real answer (as it almost invariably does for drama and comedy series) and should generally be checked regarding survival enquires. www.lostshows.com/default.aspx?search=It+Takes+a+Worried+Man.. so it all sits happily in the Fremantle Archive.

The only thing lost from the series, as far as I know, is the unscreened pilot "Roath". For the uninitiated, Philip Roath was Peter Tilbury's character.
In any case, season one pre-dates Channel 4 (it was shown in 1981) and I'm fairly sure that season two was originally on ITV too - though both (I think) were repeated on 4. The final season was made for (or at least shown on) C4 only.
One of my favourite sit-coms, particularly from series two onwards (when Sue Holderness's character first appears). Most definitely needs a repeat, DVD release etc etc.

Thanks for that - good news. Thanks too for the link to the Lost Shows Database. I knew it existed, but couldn't find it. S
