Does anyone recall this - very - amusing item? Broadcast I seem to recall just priot to Thames' new look daytime t.v. lineup which comprised: First report, Crown Court, Good afternoon, general hospital, and ran like that right up to around 1978.

Yes afternoons of quality programmes and repeat treats ..those were the days. Who remembers Mike Smith and his 'Toolbox' ?
I think Freud on Food was initially a local programme to the Tyne Tees region but found it welcomed on the new afternoon network? Clement Freud was great with his 'deadpan' delivery

Yes, I remember it well! It used The Beatles' "Savoy Truffle" as it's theme. Freud used to be assisted in the kitchen by two teenage girls who were less than enthusiastic (a lot of make-up and a bit goth-looking)! As far as I know, no editions survive, which is a shame as i'd love to see one again.
I think this may also have been discussed in the past so there may be a thread buried somewhere here...

sounds really interesting. it always amazes me the variety of programs that have seemingly gone for good. such a shame that a quirky program like this no longer exists

As an aside to this topic, i've heard it suggested that Freud On Food possibly might not have been pre-recorded and went out live (which would presumably explain it's non-existent status?), although 1972 seems to me quite late on for it to be the case with that type of programme. Does anyone know more? I don't know how many programmes there were, although my memory is that the series wasn't around too long.
