Have any significant recoveries of British television been made in the USA? Just wondering. There are a lot of broadcasters over there from large networks to small local regional channels, and some of them would have been screening old British shows I guess. So have their archives ever divulged any lost British TV?

A couple of probably missing editions of Rediffusion's 'Hippodrome' have turned up in the USA, as have some editions of ATV's 'Showtime' and at least one Palladium Show, althought not sure if these were all missing.
Also, the colour Rediffusion play 'The Human Voice' is on dvd commercial release in USA (on the Broadway Theater Archive collection) and as far as I know this play does not survive in the official UK archives. It is on NTSC videotape.

A lost episode from the first series of "The Avengers" turned up in the UCLA archive a few years ago.

'The Reunion' with Alfred Burke a 1955 ITV playhouse show, has recently been found in the US, where it was a B movie. Quite notable by the fact it may be from a bunch of plays that were made in 'High Definition' ? IIRC. The producers were considering making feature films using the television studio method to save money. To do this they used specially built PYE 1000 line capable cameras IIRC but trialed them at 750 lines then telerecorded onto film... something like that anyway.
The Rediffusion play 'Dial M for Murder' with Lawrence Harvey is thought to reside in the US

There have been some finds in the US. Most of them probably made their way here from the UK or Australia.
For instance I found an episode of "Androcles and the Lion" w/ Julian Glover in the US, as well as some missing "Monty Python" footage...
I also once ran across an almost complete run of "The Cheaters" which turned out to have some missing episodes. (Someone in the UK has the prints now).

How about the complete 'Beyond the Fringe', as recorded by the BBC, which had been kept by the show's Broadway producer Alexander Cohen?

All very interesting... And I'm sure, more to come, bearing in mind, the size of the US...

Quite a bit of stuff has been retrieved from Canadian TV too. Yes... most of "Doomwatch" from what I recall to name just one show.
