I would like to see this serial again ,the complete serial is in the archives unlike the 1967 remake, which wasnt as good anyway.

Was there a 1967 remake? There was one in 1971, which does survive complete. The BBC also has a copy of the last episode of the 1957 version, I'm not sure if the rest of that version exists, if so only the NFA have it.

I have the following information, which may be of interest to Beathead and Andrew Martin. All the episodes exist at the BFI.
There is an explanation as to why. I'm surprised the BBC haven't made copies of the other episodes as it must be about the only complete BBC television children's serialized drama from the 1950s. A 'must have' with respect to the BBC television archive I should have thought.

When the National Film Archive appointed the first Television Acquisitions Officer in 1959, this was the first serialized television drama made for children to be chosen, and the earliest in this category to be donated by the BBC.

Thats right I got the date wrong it was a version from 1971 not 1967!!

The BBC would only get a copy made of one of its programmes held by the NFA if it was required for a new programme or a repeat, the archive doesn't have the funding (which it would require, the NFA would charge!) to get copies made just to have it on site.
