I'm 95% certain that "The Trollenberg Terror" no longer exists.. Don't know about the "Strange World of Planet X T".....
You can - however - get the movie adaptation of "The Trollenberg Terror" which is excellent. In the USA it was released under the title "The Crawling Eye" . It is available (in the US anyway) on DVD...

Yes, I got hold of the movie version a while ago. My fave horror film as a kid. The Guy from Sexton Blake ( Laurence Payne ? ) and Forrest Tucker were in it. Bit cheesey to watch now but still a "good un". Eric.

I'm pretty sure both TV versions are non-existent as they probably went out live (and were presumably never recorded).

'The Strange World of Planet X' was also remade as a feature film, with Forrest Tucker in the lead role. It's been released on video in the US but I don't think there's a DVD.

Ishould have stated really that I was put in contact with someone who had certain episodes from these 2 serials but it ended there, so something is out there........lurking I've heard rumours that film recordings of 'Trollenberg Terror' exist in Canada but I'll believe them when I see them, so to speak. I've no idea if these serials were sold abroad, or if it's even possible to verify any foreign sales. 50 years on from their only known broadcasts, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Your contact seems to have broken off communication very quickly, which probably tells its own story. Call me a pessimist, but in these instances I doubt there's anything lurking anywhere.

I suppose 'the man' on this would be the BBCs Andrew Martin.
He might know if theres record of direction to record the productions off air onto T/R?
This is the main factor with 1950s T.V. in Britain; it wasn't wiped it just was selective as to whether any T.V. pre VT was recorded off air.

Yes, the pre-recorded sections of the drama anthology "Women In Love" (Rediffusion) are from that year and seems to be one of the earliest existing UK VTs (I don't think i'm wrong in saying that I don't think the BBC has anything quite as early as this). I believe there are also one or two other programmes existing from around this time or just before that were made by Jack Hylton Productions for Rediffusion.

Associated Rediffusion was the first British television company to install Ampex video tape recording machines at their Wembley Park complex in June / July 1958.
The BBC installed their first Ampex video tape recording machine on October 1st 1958 followed later by two more.
