Hello i'm back ,I logged out ages ago and didnt bother to log in so I went logging in Canada instead, you see I always wanted to be a lumberjack just like my dear papa.....oh ..sorry where was I ? Yes any news on the rumour about Hammers new remake of QUATERMASS AND THE PIT,or is it just that? Iwas the beatman but now im BEATHEAD. cheers,  Phil. |

I havent heard anything about this at all. No anouncements as far as im aware. Would be interesting to see though.

Not half, a remake with todays technology would be superb. Had a QUATERMASS "spell" a couple of weeks ago. Watched the complete 1957 series and the apparently 2 remaining episodes of THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT.
Is that a genuine fact ?, Are there only 2 episodes in circulation of the latter ?
Considering they are 50+ years old, they still come across as pretty good !
My juices are really flowing at the prospect of a re-make.

Yep, only the two from Quatermass experiment. There was a hoax a while back about silent footage from episode 4 or 5, but it was only a hoax All considered, it is fairly unlikely for the missing Quatermass episodes to come back. Not 100% impossible, but pretty unlikely.
They do stand up amazingly well considering their age and budgetary constraints. Just goes to show that great TV doesnt have to rely on 3D graphics; just a good script, vision and a great cast.

So far as anyone knows, 'The Quatermass Experiment' parts 3-6 were not film recorded so there's nothing to be rediscovered. They went out live and that was it.
I was told that the 'Quatermass and the Pit' remake foundered - some time back - because of problems over the film rights. Ownership is split between various parties and the cost of clearing the rights would be prohibitive. Maybe the situation is different now but I haven't heard any more about it.
